Key Biodiversity Areas GIS Data Request

Note: It is not possible to directly download KBA boundaries from this website. However the following notes explain how to request data:

About the dataset
On behalf of the KBA Partnership, BirdLife International maintains a GIS dataset of KBA boundaries. For a small proportion of sites, a polygon is not yet available, and the site is represented by a point showing its location.

Requesting data
The KBA GIS dataset is available in ESRI shapefile format to use in GIS mapping software.

For commercial purposes, the dataset is available through the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (www.ibat-alliance.org).

For non-commercial use, please complete the form below. Full terms of use (including the definition of non-commercial use) are available here.

We will review your request and send the download location for the data to you. If you have any questions about the data or process please do not hesitate to contact us.

Please Note: This is not an automated process, and before requests are responded to they undergo internal authorisation by relevant staff, and if appropriate, the originating organisation, as such, requests normally take 5-10 working days to process.
