Technical Working Group

Ensuring consistency in KBA identification and monitoring

The KBA Technical Working Group (TWG) reports to the KBA Committee and is key in ensuring that KBA identification, delineation, documentation, and monitoring efforts are implemented consistently and following the Global Standard.

The KBA Technical Working Group meets as often as required, within available resources. Ad hoc, specialised meetings may be held occasionally to address particular issues.

Olivia Crowe, is BirdLife’s Global Science Coordinator (IBAs & KBAs). She has many years of experience working on site conservation and data management with the BirdLife Partner in Ireland and now provides support with the identification and monitoring of KBAs and leads the development of the World Database of Key Biodiversity Areas (WDKBA).

Andrew Snyder, Key Biodiversity Area Coordinator for Re:wild, is a herpetologist by training. He currently works on Re:wild’s regional site priorities and metrics while also supporting National Coordination Groups, NGOs and governments to comprehensively identify and update their Key Biodiversity Areas.
